The Imani Winds presented an evening of woodwind quintet music on Sunday, February 21. This was the third event of the Chamber Music of Yellow Springs 2015-2016 season.
This group of five musicians has traveled widely throughout Europe and to China, Brazil, Australia, and Singapore, receiving many awards plus enthusiastic acclaim from their audiences. In addition to having a composer member, the group commissions and promotes new works by contemporary composers. This emphasis produces a unique programmatic style and introduces new works into classical music.
Members of the group are Valerie Coleman, flute; Toyin Spellman-Diaz, oboe; Mark Dover, clarinet; Monica Ellis, bassoon; and Jeff Scott, French horn.
